Bridie takes her name from Brighde or Bridget, the Gaelic word for "strength," and she wears it proudly. Dressed in our Curaidh Pink Ribbon Tartan, she is soft, huggable and unique in every way.

The tartan
Curaidh is the Gaelic word for champion, warrior, or hero, and this tartan was created to honour exactly that: the people who face breast cancer with courage, and the families and friends who stand beside them. Its pink threads echo the pink ribbon, woven into a classic Scottish design that carries a message of love and resilience.

The bear
Bridie is made to be gently cuddled, gifted and kept. She makes a thoughtful present for a friend going through a difficult time, a tribute to someone you admire, or a keepsake.

Every Bridie is lovingly sewn here at home by retired ladies in our local community, who take their time and enjoy every stitch. It is slow, careful making, done for the sheer pleasure of creating something beautiful and meaningful. Only 30 have been made, each one wonderfully soft, quietly collectable, and each with her own particularly endearing smile.

The fit of the Great Scot Ladies jackets and waistcoats are form-fitting, - as one would expect from highly structured and tailored garments. Generally, we advise that if your bust cup-size is more than B, we recommend selecting the next size up.

For Great Scot Gentswear, bear in mind that the Regency Waistcoat is double-breasted, meaning that it is designed to be worn fully fastened. It has a back belt that can reduce the waist measurement by 1" to 2".

Do you know your hat size? It's easy to find out!

Just place a string or measuring tape around your head, just above your ear.
Now run the tape around the middle of your forehead -completely circling your head.
Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly.
Measure your head (in cm's) exactly where the hat will sit.

If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next size up.
