Your Consumer Rights Great Scot operates in full compliance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. These Distance Selling Regulations are designed to protect both you and us, and we take these consumer protections very seriously.
Your statutory rights are always protected when you shop with us.
International Orders: Understanding Customs & Import Fees - in Simple Terms. Please note for our international customers: your shipment may be subject to import duties, taxes, and customs fees set by your local customs authority.
These charges aren't included in your order total at checkout. Why not? Because every country, and in some cases, individual states or regions have their own import laws, tax rates, and fee structures.
Under the Distance Selling Regulations, as the recipient, you'll need to:
• Check what import fees might apply before ordering
• Pay any duties or taxes directly to the carrier or customs authority to release your parcel
Please note: Great Scot has absolutely no influence over other countries' customs policies, tariffs, or import regulations, including recent changes such as tariffs introduced by the Trump Administration in the USA.
Because each jurisdiction sets its own rules and fees, and these can change without notice, it's impossible for us to predict or include these costs at checkout.
These fees go entirely to your local government, not to us. We strongly recommend checking your country's current import regulations before placing your order to avoid any surprises.
If Delivery Can't Be Completed We understand that sometimes import fees can be unexpected. However, if fees remain unpaid or delivery is refused, your parcel may be returned to us or disposed of by customs.
In these situations, the Distance Selling Regulations mean that:
• We can only refund if the goods are successfully returned to us
• If returned, we'll refund the product cost (minus the actual shipping* and handling fees)
• Original shipping costs can't be refunded
• We're happy to reship, but a new shipping fee will apply
Lost or Damaged Parcels If something goes wrong with your delivery, we're here to help.
Please contact us at answers@greatscotscotland.com within 7 days with any relevant photos or evidence, and we'll work with the carrier to arrange a replacement or refund.
A Final Note: While the law prevents us from being held responsible for customs delays, import duties, or changes to international trade policies, we're always here to answer questions and support you in any way we can.
Please do familiarise yourself with local charges before ordering. We're here to create beautiful tartans and get them safely to your door, but being informed about your local fees is your responsibility. When we both play our part, your Great Scot experience will be as smooth as possible, and your beautiful purchase will get to you as swiftly and seamlessly as possible.
*'actual shipping' fees refers to the actual fee that Great Scot paid for the shipping of your order, irrespective of if a Free Shipping promotion was utilised at the checkout.
